David Guetta did it!! House music is popular because it deserves to be, not because major record labels and top 40 radio stations tell us so. Thanks to David, people could in theory mention Ferry Corsten, Sven Vath, Flo-Rida and Akon in the same sentence. Imagine 5 years from now, the # 1 MTV (USA) video might belong to Mat Zo, Swedish House Mafia or Sander K. None of it would have happened without David Guetta and his sexy french house. To be honest, it’s already happening. ‘Club Can’t Handle Me’ is currently #9 on the Billboard Hot 100!

{tab=Bio}
As an internationally respected artist/producer/remixer/DJ, DAVID GUETTA’s track record has been impeccable for nearly two decades. Now, in 2010, his career is reaching new peaks: “When Love Takes Over” featuring the lead vocal of multi-platinum pop-R&B songstress Kelly Rowland, took off as a world-wide smash, posting its first national 1 charting in the U.K.; he is also the track producer of Black Eyed Peas’ rousing new 1 single, “I Gotta Feeling,” in whose video clip he makes a cameo appearance. And Guetta’s fourth studio album, ONE LOVE, released August 25th on Astralwerks, is an ambitious, ingeniously crafted album that sets forth nothing less than a bold and beautiful manifesto for the global pop and dance audience. Witness, for example, the phenomenal success of current radio smash-hit “Sexy Bitch” (a.k.a. Sexy Chick) feat. Akon.
“Making this record with so many talented artists was such an amazing experience and the end result is an album infused with all the best flavors of contemporary pop music that will appeal to such a broad audience both on and off the dancefloor,” noted Guetta.
Significantly, it was Guetta’s own defining and assured musical viewpoint as a DJ and producer that attracted the A-listers who make ONE LOVE one of 2009’s most diverse and star-studded album projects. Kelly Rowland, for example, moved to tears at first hearing the instrumental work-in-progress that became “When Love Takes Over” on the dance floor at Guetta’s famed F*** Me I’m Famous party in Cannes, greeted him in the DJ booth, and was later given the track to write to. will.i.am, similarly, had first approached Guetta to contribute to a club-inspired album planned by Black Eyed Peas (the just-released Energy Never Dies) – and their collaboration snowballed to include two tracks on ONE LOVE: the out-of-control “I Wanna Go Crazy,” and “On the Dancefloor,” joined by apl.de.ap, a fresh evocation of the hip-hop/house fusions of the late 1980s.
Throughout the agenda-setting ONE LOVE, Guetta serves up a body-rocking, all-embracing blend of hip-hop, soul and electro – an audacious fusion that’s been sorely missed ever since rap and dance audiences became polarized at the turn of the 1990s. With a global following of nearly five million celebrants at over 200 DJ performances just last year attesting to his musical authority, it’s no wonder that Guetta has emerged as a catalyst and a curator of an exciting new musical hybrid, his magical producer’s touch bringing out the best in all his collaborators — even as accomplished a hook-meister as Akon, who sings the album track “Sexy Bitch.”
A rare dance album spotlighting its vocalists as well as its beats — each singer cast flawlessly in tracks tailored to their individual qualities — every one of ONE LOVE’s vocal collaborations is marked by arresting hooks, inventive musical development, and compelling humanistic messages. Notable among the guests who leave true personal stamps on each song is Chris Willis, the longtime lead vocal collaborator with whom Guetta has shared no less than seven top 10 chartings around Europe, who lends his larger-than-life, testifying vocals to the funky house of “Gettin’ Over” and “Sound of Letting Go.” Recent Grammy winner Estelle imbues the title track with a rich, luminous emotional grace; and Kelly Rowland turns in another vibrant and melodic lead vocal in “It’s the Way You Love Me” worthy of the most stirring of Donna Summer’s dance anthems.
Breakout stars Kid Cudi (“Memories”) and Novel (“Missing You”) also share surprisingly personal stories in a dance format; and, rounding out an album full of high points, Wynter, fresh off a worldwide hit with Flo Rida (“Sugar”), stars in the erotically charged “Toy Friend”.
DAVID GUETTA’s name is synonymous with the world’s greatest house and dance music, and with the parties that bring that music to life. Since releasing his first pioneering single “Up 1 Way” in his native Paris, France in 1992, David Guetta has sold over 2 million albums worldwide and over 3.2 million singles. He has been France’s No. 1 club DJ for a decade, and was named the world’s No. 1 House DJ in 2008. Attesting to his global appeal, Guetta is also a bona-fide YouTube star, holding the record for “most watched” of any artist in the electronic music genre with over 32 million views of his 2007 classic “Love Is Gone”.
In Europe, Guetta has previously released three chart-topping albums (Just a Little More Love, 2002; Guetta Blaster, 2004; Pop Life, 2007). Guetta and his wife Cathy are also famed for staging the mega-sized dance parties, F*** Me I’m Famous, for tens of thousands of house, electro, and dance-loving fans from Ibiza to Miami, New York, London, Barcelona and Paris. They have released four best-selling compilation packages of the same name.

New Track: Britney Spears – ‘Till The World Ends (Femme Fatale Remix)

A seemingly unlikely trio: Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj, and Ke$ha team up to create something that is truly “sicker than the remix” .. the official remix.
The song opens with a soft-voiced Britney announcing “till the world ends, remix” but this song is anything but soft. Immediately after, Nicki hits hard spitting absolute fire.
“It’s Britney Bitch, I’m Nicki Minaj, and that’s Ke$ha” opens the first verse at which point Ke$ha takes over. This version is just much nastier than the original. Taking dubstep cues from “Hold It Against Me” but adding bass-heavy synthesizers makes for a much heavier hitting, grimy sound.
While this trio seems unlikely, a closer look will show that it makes perfect sense. What most people don’t know is that Ke$ha wrote “‘Till The World Ends,” so it’s perfectly appropriate for her to get a share of the spotlight. As for Nicki Minaj, she has joined team Britney and is touring with her this summer. The three seem to enjoy the spotlight together quite a bit as they have been tweeting each other as well as communicating on Facebook. So, what might have just been “too much fierceness for one cover” will hopefully mean more great things from the trio. But what do you think? Is this the next big thing? We see dubstep and mashups constantly inundating the radio waves of mainstream; could it be that EDM is the true music of the future, with a blur of genres?
I think it’s safe to say that you can expect this at a club near you shortly. For the official preview visit Britney’s official website. This song is also available on iTunes.

Venue Overview
The coziness of an upscale lounge housed within the space of a nightclub. District’s loft-style design and custom lighting arrangement screams, “sexy!” LCD screens, exposed brick, a spiral staircase, wrap around mezzanine and raised DJ booth emit an industrial elegance rarely found in DC nightlife. With a 60-foot wraparound bar and Infusion Bar hosting specialty drinks on the main floor; and mezzanine and private bars above, District is a place where grabbing high-end cocktails or a bottle of bud light is never a hassle! The mezzanine provides optimal vantage points of the dance floor below and the roof deck allows for a breath of fresh air. Hosting date auctions, fashion shows (including Hustler) and world-class DJs, District is a magnate of DC nightlife.

Using President John F. Kennedy’s description of Washington DC as a city of “southern efficiency and northern charm,” as a guide, the owners of District created a menu of eclectic surf and turf dishes in an attempt to quench DC’s insatiable appetite for epicurean wonders. The tapas menu includes shrimp and cheddar grits, tuna tartar and sushi including a surf and turf roll. The entrees consist of rib-eye steak, grilled sea bass, crab cakes and more! Drink pairings may be suggested or custom-made to fit your culinary selection.

Photo Tour: Fur Nightclub DC renovates outdoor patio

Just in time for the awesome spring weather, Fur Nightclub did some serious work on their patio. We dropped in last weekend for the first night of Life (formerly known as mnmlife), which is back in action on Saturday nights on the patio after the long winter hiatus. What we saw was pretty cool.
They added a full-length bar under the roof, complete with full hookah service, installed a large stage for outdoor shows, set up raised vip seating and tables, upgraded the sound system, and renovated the dj booth as well. With a fresh coat of paint and a few new lights, the last details were finished, bringing the space to life.
Together, the changes make the space into a much more meaningful and useful space. It draws the area together and gives it a reason for being there. The patio is now a real destination in the club, as opposed to being a place where people just go to smoke. We like it a lot, and can’t wait for the next Glow Saturday at Fur Nightclub.
Good job, Fur!

Billboard.com Top Ten Songs | April 24-30, 2011
1. Rihanna – S&M » Play (video)

Rihanna hangs on to the number two spot with “S&M.” This track has been on the charts for 14 weeks! What a hit! With a title like that it really needs no more explanation! When combined with a racy, somewhat disturbing, music video it’s one of the most controversial tracks currently.
2. Katy Perry Feat. Kanye West – E.T. » Play (video)

Katy Perry falls one to number two this week with ten weeks on the charts! Katy joins forces with Kanye to create this new hit with a great dance feel. The release of the official music video has probably helped push this song to the number one spot, check it out!
3. The Black Eyed Peas – Just Can’t Get Enough » Play (video)

“Just Can’t Get Enough” has a great beat and an incredible club feel. Lyrics invoking love and the one you just can’t get enough of round out an original song with the same Black Eyed Peas sound you love! They’re still just behind Rihanna, maybe they’ll be number two next week!
4. Jeremih Feat. 50 Cent – Down On Me » Play (video)

Jeremih and 50 Cent are Back and here to say, holding on to the charts for 23 weeks and beating out Chris Brown this week to take number six. This is another song that doesn’t need much description, with that title and a little imagination you can figure out what it’s all about.
5. Cee Lo Green – F**k You » Play

“F**k You” falls one this week to number five. Ten weeks on the charts is nothing to be upset about though! If you see them “driving ’round town with the girl [you] love” then there’s only one thing to say .. f**k you!
6. Adele – Rolling In The Deep » Play (video)

Clinging on to the top ten at number ten but on the charts for 15weeks, Adele brings a decidedly different sound to the charts. In this song Adele vents her anger at a relationship that could have “had it all” but instead she is betrayed by the one she loves. Adele contributes to the serious message by comparing her anger to a rising fever and promising to expose him for who he is.
7. Chris Brown Feat. Lil Wayne & Busta Rhymes – Look At Me Now » Play (video)

Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, and Busta Rhymes bring Hip-Hop/R&B to the overall top ten while topping those charts at number one. Falling one to number seven, “Look At Me Now” is enjoying 11 weeks on the charts.
8. Jennifer Lopez Feat. Pitbull – On the Floor » Play (video)

Lopez and Pitbull still on the top ten at number eight this week with “On the Floor,” a song most literally about tearing up the dance floor. Some say it sounds too much like Kat DeLuna’s “Party O’Clock” and Maya’s “Stereo Love,” what do you think?
9. Britney Spears – Till The World Ends » Play (video)

It’s pretty surprising that “Till The World Ends” hasn’t seen more time on the top ten. With seven weeks on on the charts and only three on the top ten (not consecutively) this song is not performing as well as some would think. Either way, Britney still never fails to make a hit!
10. Lady GaGa – Judas » Play

“Judas” makes its debut on the charts at number ten this week. We can assume that “Judas” is about betrayal but take a listen to find out yourself!
David Guetta is Back but Shhhh… Don’t Tell Anyone
