Over 500 DJs entered the 1st Annual DC Clubbing Top 50 DJs Poll. The 2 week voting period tallied over 4,000 votes. When the dust settled, we were left with the top 50 DJs in Washington DC.

They spin at some of the best bars, lounges and nightclubs throughout every neighborhood in The District.

Huge thanks to Chuck Levin’s Washington Music Center for providing over $5000 in prizes and being the best audio/lighting outlet in DC. Whether you’re opening a venue, need DJ gear or want to build a studio, Chuck’s is your starting point.

And of course, thanks to everyone who voted!

Building the energy of the crowd to the climax of the night when you drop a massive track on the crowd and everyone screams or puts their hands in the air. Knowing at the end of the night when you finish, everyone leaving had a great night and they come up to the booth to thank you, it humbles me every single time. 1. hater2 says:

Coming from a DJ myself. I’ve single handedly have seen half of these DJ’s spin in person. press and play DJ’s… I bet none of them can crab scratch. Anyone can beat match 130 bpm’s and make a playlist lol. Wheres tittsworth and dave nada? This blog is gross! delete before you embarrass yourself!

  2. Concerned Citizen says:

Take away their Serato and MP3s and 98% of them won’t be a DJ instantly!!!

  3. Concerned Citizen says:

Why do so many of the “so called” DJs listed have no weekly residencies?? How, better yet why, did Non-Working bedroom DJ’s get on this list?? So many dope DJ’s not listed… Stylus Chris, DJ Dredd, DJ Eeeeasy, DJ Oso Fresh, Video Killers, John Bowen, DJ Roz, 2 Tone Jones, DJ Cam One, J-Scrilla, DJ Book, DJ Huck Fin, DJ Jav, DJ RBI, DJ Ragz, DJ Soyo, DJ Stylus, DJ SPM, and Sam “The Man” Burns!!!!! most of these guys have been holding down residencies in DC for years…

    • Ravi says:

not everyone replied to profile questions. perhaps next year you can help the cause and make this a more accurate (in your opinion) poll by spreading the word and voting for these guys

  4. DC Vet says:

When Hater annonimously called the list “Wack as fuck” he or she was on point!! and one has to stay annonimous to avoid being blacklisted. The proof is the omittion of the above listed DJ’s from your list. Who did you poll??? Who ever paid top dollar for bottle service at any and all panorama production events? lmao

we did our best to spread the word as far as we could. perhaps next year you’ll vote for those you think are most deserving and help the list become as accurate as possible.

being someone who moved to DC when he was 26, the only clubbing in DC I even knew about was glow – so i went and got a job with panorama. im neither cool nor in any scene except dance music.

I did my best to reach out to Big Tigger and Phat Cat Primus to expand the list of DJs in DC. If you have more by all means, list their names and contact and im more than happy to include them in the poll next year.

Our goal is to have an accurate listing and nothing more.

Yo true to life underground oldschool breaks junkie/mc here. Lookin for some real action where the down ass kids cut it up and the music is NOT the music these guys are sportin. Wheres the buzz crowd nowadays? My turntablists?Im in dc til sat and could really use a leg up on some bass, or some breaks, wheres my old school party kids?HELP!!!!!

  6. John says:

I am sorry but this is one of the worst lists I have seen. It’s so inaccurate. There are other Deejays/Producers that are not in the Panorama click that should be on here. Case in point one Deejay in particular is Sabeel. This model girl has been Deejaying for 2 weeks and she is on this list? And house tribe. That Deejay is a clown. SHM wanna be. He’s weak! I heard him at Current a while back. At least there should have been some criteria to make the list other than being a Glow promoter. There should also be a requirement to be able to Deejay without depending on Ableton Live and Serrato. This just makes the list more of a joke than a serious list. If you are a credible Deejay it is probably a compliment not to be on the list. Than at least you are not part of this group of losers. Deejaying has suddenly become uncool.

    • Ravi says:

The only Glow DJs on this list are Roberto, Jon and Matt. And absolutely no one can talk sh*t about their skills as DJs, the equipment they use, anything. They are EDM DJs who can hold a room without spinning banger after banger

There’s about 13-14 DJs total on this list that spin at least 1 weekly event for Panorama. That may include something like 1 floor at ultrabar 1 night a week. But hey, since Panorama started this poll it makes sense that these guys would work harder to promote it. It’s personal for them.

But if you really think this list is a joke – perhaps next year you can help us spread the word to a higher quality, in your opinion, group of DJs.

I hope you’re still reading… In the end, I want this poll to accurately represent DJs in washington dc. this was the first time anyone has reached out to DJs on this level so naturally there will be flaws. Perhaps there are some amazing DJs out there who just didn’t have the same promotional push as some others. Whose fault is that? If they don’t care then neither should you.

We gave away over $5000 in prizes to the top 5 DJs who placed. None of the top 3 are Panorama or Glow DJs.

  7. Nam says:

Hey Ravi, thanks for putting all this together and humbly defending your actions. All these people talk shit and you come back with ways for them to do something about it. Lets hope its not all talk from them.

  8. Michael says:

Terrible list and very inaccurate. Both Jon Deke and Dj Piojo are under rated on this list. Dj Mario should not even be on this list, his playlist is very repetative and is very predictable if you go to a few of his events. I know of many other local deejays that are better than at least 30% of these deejays listed.

  9. dc djs says:

I must say that is a very interesting list.

  10. MattoSuono says:

I like the list! I just started DJing in DC and this gives me motivation. All those other DJ’s who weren’t listed or are maybe even better than most on the list are just not popular. That just means they need to work harder and become well known. Keep it up.

I tell you what. I will be in full support next year! Im relocating to the DMV from Miami Fl so i basically have to start from scatch but im good at networking and have some more than average media talent to help me on my way.

Im a dj by night but with a career by day and plan to keep it that way cause i love what i do. Im a true hater at heart. I will hate on you secretly because of my passion, drive, and competition but I will never deprive you your day in the sun and give you respect when due.

Been at the game since 93 and have travelled the world for work but dj’d with the locals. I consider myself an underground dj but im all over the house spectrum from chill to progressive but I specialize in a cross between defected, UK Hed Kandi, Ministry of sound, italian, german, eastern european progressive house. Think of early roger sanchez / erick morillo on the terrace back in 2004!

Ive been pretty low key in Miami holding a 5 year residency at Segafredo Miami – the more popular cafe’s on the beach. Im a loyal dj with a great staff that took care of me and my friends. We get raises and gifts every x-mas.

I have opened up for big acts, recorded dj sets and placed them on my radio show, conducted interviews, and filmed other djs at Space Miami, Nikki Beach, Gryphon, Mokai, pool parties, etc. Not only for me but to help them better promote themselves. The way i see it, if im good as radio dj, video editing, and apply all my media talent to help others, I will get mine at the then end and which I have. I played at most of the dance venues in miami whilst maintaining a low key profile and not really having to promote. I promote my group of friends and other djs. I have a job which is to keep the people in the club. Promoters bring the folks- not the other way around and the promoters I have worked with understand that very well.

But im looking forward to seeing what djs have to offer in DC and coming with an open mind. Its going to be sad leaving Miami as I grew up with Oscar G, Cedric Gervais, Patrick M, Nikki Beach boys, johnny ramirez, winter music conference. I have seen these guys go from working at record shops like Patrick to being a stereo-productions talent. Or hanging out with Oscar at samash.

But, im looking forward to break into the scene in DC and do the same for other djs.

One thing for sure though that I see different, there is a sense of passion for camaraderie and togetherness. You guys look out for you own in DC. I know for sure Im going to feel right at home!

And get back your forums already. I won’t be on talknightlife.com as much any more.

    However, However!

I must defend some of the harsh comments by other djs on here. I understand where they are coming from. Unfortunately with all of the competition and how things have turned, promoters have turned djs, djs turned promoters, promoters not doing their jobs which has often lead to what we have now here in the US- a “most following” contest.

I really think the ones in charge should definitely sit down and really think this through. We have so many media outlets that can be used to utilize to showcase talent and djs be properly contested. Submit videos of live acts, mixes, and a small documentary detailing the life of the dj.

At the end of the day, if im going to fight for the #1 position, i want to be able to bring out my guns and not rely on polls- if there are too many competitors to have dj competitions, then I want to submit my act just all other contests are conducted. If you don’t have a camera, they sell HD for $100 or use your smart phone. There is no excuse not to use your imagination. Polls should be used but only after the dj having been seen and listened.

If not, next year will be another failure in the eyes of the djs which are ultimately who these competitions are being held for.

I will be more than happy to help out with interviews, filming, etc. I role with an HD cam and mobile light source. I record straight into my laptop or with a Zoom HD. Its always with me.
