Today, there are an estimated 27 million slaves around the world, including within our DC Area communities. This new form of modern slavery, also known as human trafficking, has become the fastest growing and second largest criminal industry in the world. Its perpetrators use powerful methods of force, fraud and coercion to exploit men, women and children through labor and sex trafficking operations.
DC SMS is an all-volunteer grassroots organization with over 850 members. They seek to help end modern slavery through community education and action.
With the support of their partners, sponsors, speakers, performers, walkers, and community volunteers, they were able to attract over 2,000 participants and raise over $100,000 last year. After an eye-opening first-year run, Identity Festival returns to Washington DC at Jiffy Lube Live. The 2012 edition features a potent line up of the world’s best electro, house and dubstep artists.

Over 500 DJs entered the 1st Annual DC Clubbing Top 50 DJs Poll. The 2 week voting period tallied over 4,000 votes. When the dust settled, we were left with the top 50 DJs in Washington DC.

Best thing about being a DJ is… being able to share my love for music, deliver new tracks and old, seamlessly blend music live, and deliver an experience that cannot be replicated by anyone else. Building the energy of the crowd to the climax of the night when you drop a massive track on the crowd and everyone screams or puts their hands in the air. Knowing at the end of the night when you finish, everyone leaving had a great night and they come up to the booth to thank you, it humbles me every single time.
