Can you tell us a bit about your new track “Awooga”?
“Awooga” is a track I made exclusively for Beatport which is strictly for the clubs and released on my label Fly Eye. It’s a big-room electro record and it’s been going off in my DJ sets.

It’s been a while since you last released a single – we’re guessing you’ve been busy working on your upcoming album, but what else have you got coming up?
I’m going to be releasing a lot of tracks this year, and the album will come later. I’ve been working with different people on some big singles; the first features Kelis and she sounds amazing on the record. We just shot the video in Vegas, and that’s shaping up to look great too!

It will be your third artist album – what can we expect from it, and how has your sound evolved and moved on from the last two?
I’m going for pretty epic-sounding dance records. I guess the whole sound has just moved on in terms of production as I’ve got a new studio and some new gear to make the sounds I wasn’t able to make before.

Other than the new singles and the album, what else have you got planned for the coming months?
I’ll be carrying on my residency in Las Vegas and touring all over the place. I’m also going to Dubai, which I’ve never been to before, so that should be amazing.

You toured with Rihanna earlier this year – how did you adapt your set to suit a crowd that wouldn’t necessarily be at one of your club nights?
I did alter my set, as there were lots of younger people in the crowd that I wouldn’t normally DJ to, but her fans are really good and they go nuts!

From your Tweets, it’s apparent that you’re quite a straight-talking person, but have you ever considered closing your account because of the grief it can sometimes cause?
There are definitely some strange people on the Internet, but that’s nothing we didn’t know already! There are too many upsides to the incredible things you can find on Twitter to delete your account, though.

You featured on Dizzee Rascal‘s “Dance Wiv Me” back in 2008, but it wasn’t until last year that urban music really dominated the charts – do you think the urban-dance crossover is paving the way for dance music’s popularity with the mainstream again?
It certainly seems to be the way things are headed right now. A lot of US urban artists are looking to European producers to create the mainstream dance music sound, so it’s a very exciting time for dance music.

Who do you rate as an up-and-coming artist?
There are loads, but to name a few Burns – signed to Deconstruction Records – is great, and so are Thomas Gold and Michael Woods.

And finally, what was the last record you listened to?
Burns’ “Skeezer.”

New Kids on the Block & Backstreet Boys 6/3/11 – 80′s bubblegum meeets 90′s pop for the ultimate boy band tour! After an impromptu live performance last year at NY’s Radio City Music Hall, the top 40 sensations have joined forces to and are causing pandemonium amongst the women of DC nightlife!

Sade & John Legend 6/22/11 – John’s performance on the National Mall at James Cameron’s 2010 Earth Day event brought Washingtonians out by the thousands. He opens on 6/22/11 for one of the greatest R&B signers ever, Sade. Her hits are too numerous to mention, but include Smooth Operator, No Ordinary Love and Kiss of Life.

R. Kelly 7/2/11 – The three-time Grammy winner, off the release of his brand new Gold-selling ‘Love Letter’ album, is on a world tour with Keyshia Cole and Marsha Ambrosius. They arrive in Washington DC on 7/2/11 to soothe the hearts of thousands at this must see DC event!

Josh Groban 7/27/11 – Four multi-platinum albums and over 24 million albums sold worldwide. Josh Groban’s 2011 Straight to You Tour will highlight his Illusions album. The Washington Post says the album “offers a perfectly fine, and often quite lovely, glimpse at a pop-classical crossover artist in the middle of crossing over.”

Keith Urban 7/28/11 – Country sensation Keith Urban arrives at the Verizon Center on 7/28/11 and has been nominated for the 2011 Country Music Television awards for male video and performance of the year! His Get Closer 2011 World Tour will be one of the biggest of the year!

Britney Spears & Nicki Minaj 7/31/11 – The recent remix of Britney’s ‘Til the World Ends’ featuring Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha has been blowing out speakers across the nation! Spears’ return to the spotlight has been highlighted by tracks with producer Rusko and Will.I.Am. Nicki Minaj is easily the hottest female hip-hop artist out right now. Britney and Nicki have now teamed up for a 2011 mega tour of hip-pop, electronic, top 40 madness!

Taylor Swift 8/2/11 & 8/3/11 – Since the age of 14 she has been under contract with Sony, writing music and preparing for super-stardom. Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour by Cirque du Soleil fuses visuals, dance, music and fantasy; immersing audiences in MJ’s creative world and literally turning his signature moves upside down. The show captures the essence, soul and inspiration of the King of Pop, celebrating a legacy that continues to transcend generations.

Being a Michael Jackson-themed experience, Cirque needs to focus more than ever on the audio aspects of the production. A key element will be the 5.1 mastering work. Music Designer Kevin Antunes’ team will be including none other than your PoP Nightlife at Ultrabar resident and DC nightlife favorite DJ Enferno!

Along with Kevin (Music Director to Madonna and Rihanna), Enferno will be working on rearranging and reinventing Michael Jackson’s music. “It’s a huge honor to be involved with such a big production, and I’m thankful for the chance to pay homage to the greatest artist that ever lived,” says Enferno.

NCAA Coaches D.A.N.C.E. with Justice and Other Things that Make March Awesome

With March Madness right around the corner, ESPN recently released a commercial highlighting the… interesting moves of NCAA basketball coaches as they go through the gauntlet of emotion that is college basketball. It’s their own special dance, and what better song to set it to than D.A.N.C.E. by French electro duo Justice.

March is easily one of the best months ever. NCAA College Basketball is at its peak. Courts get stormed, crowds go wild and dreams either come true or are tragically shattered. The winter is ending and spring is just around the corner. Cherry Blossoms illuminate Washington DC. Winter Music Conference and Ultra Music Fest take over Miami. Colleges throughout the nation go on spring break. Girls go wild.

We decided to do a little research and see what else has contributed to the madness of our beloved third month.

44BC – Julius Caesar is stabbed to death by Marcus Brutus, but Jimmy already knew that.

845 – Paris is sacked by Viking raiders (that just sounds funny)

In a special message to his fans, Skeeter explained:

That makes two of our residents that have gone on to tour with the world’s top pop stars. DJ Enferno left his residency at Ultrabar in 2008/2009 to go on Madonna’s Sticky and Sweet Tour. He’s back in 2011 for a pop residency.

As far as Skeet Skeet is concerned, have no fear. He’ll back in the US at the end of 2011 and ready to drop the freshest mash-up from throughout the world as he resumes his residency at one of DC nightclubs hottest parties, pop nightlife at Ultrabar!
