Capital Food Fight
Every year four local chefs duke it out to raise money for DC Central Kitchen to aid in their fight to end hunger
Much like the Japanese cooking show, Iron Chef, each chef will compete in a cook-off battle featuring a secret ingredient. Hopefully vile, disgusting, really disgusting, bordering on non-food ingredients will be used like they do on Iron Chef. Please hold the bulls’ balls or un-laid eggs.
This year’s competing chefs include:
- Todd Gray (Equinox/Watershed)
- Haidar Karoum (Proof/Estadio)
- Jeff Black (BlackSalt Restaurant Group/Pearl Dive Oyster Palace)
- Brian McBride (Blue Duck Tavern)
Chefs will be judged by a panel including Ted Allen of Food Network’s Chopped, award-winning cookbook author Joan Nathan and host of Simply Ming, Ming Tsai.
Last year reformed bad boy celebrity chef and host of No Reservations, Anthony Bourdain will be returning as the host and Jose Andres will be serving as the chair of the event. In addition to the chef competition, more than 60 local restaurants will be serving a variety of tasting items.
